About Accredited Varieties - Malting

Accreditation determines that a variety is suitable for malting and brewing, but it does not evaluate the agronomical requirements of a variety or its adaptation to different agri-ecological zones.

Accreditation does not guarantee the commercial success of a variety or that a suitable segregation will be available in any one region.  Decisions to purchase a variety are made by the individual marketers and maltsters and it is important that growers contact their merchant before committing to any particular variety.

All barley varieties on the accreditation list are reviewed annually by Barley Australia to re-affirm their status.
